01 Yu-Gi-Oh! the anime. - Ishizu Ishtar. WHY - Her Egyptian beauty (especially loving the gold braid things) and her mysticism. WINNER - Nobody.
02 Yu-Gi-Oh! the card game - XYZ Dragon Cannon. WHY - IT'S A FREAKING TRANSFORMING BEASTMECHA!! IT WINS BY DEFAULT! WINNER - kjorteo
03 Inuyasha - Sango. WHY - She's an awesome combination of beauty and strength, and is quite formidable even for a mortal with no special powers. That and Kirara's too damned adorable in "Nekotsune" form. WINNER - stryck
04 Sonic the Hedgehog - Miles "Tails" Prower. WHY - I've always liked playing as him, plus in Sonic Adventure 2, he had a TRANSFORMING MECHA. DEFAULT WIN AGAIN. WINNER - Nobody.
05 Legend of Zelda - Shiek. WHY - The way she had me guessing throughout the entire game of Ocarina of Time as to what her motive was, or even WHO she was, had me hooked. It's not often I get surprised by a video game storyline anymore. That, and she was the only character in Smash Bros. Melee I was any good with for the longest time. WINNER - kjorteo
06 Slayers - Gourry. WHY - 3 words - LIGHT COME FORTH!!! WINNER - Nobody.
07 DDR Tracks - Sakura. WHY - Of all the "techno kabuki" tracks, it's my favorite, mostly because of Alice being in a kimono. Heee. :D WINNER - Nobody.
08 Final Fantasy - Celes Chere, FF6. WHY - Loved her story, her look, and her Runic ability. WINNER - Nobody.
09 Megatokyo - Tohya Miho. WHY - She was a character I could actually understand...could feel connected to. That and I used to love going to raves. WINNER - drewtiggy
10 Chobits - Sumomo. WHY - Small + Hyper + Kawaii = WIN. WINNER - Nobody.
11 Oh My Goddess! - Skuld. WHY - ....I dunno, really. o.O WINNER - Nobody.
12 Witch Hunter Robin - Robin. WHY - Loved her look, especially her glasses and coats. And oh yeah, SHE SETS THINGS ON FIRE. WINNER - stryck

West Virginia has offically made English its state language. Many lawmakers simply weren't aware of this.

Now, I can't really condone the manner in which the amendment was snuck into the bill it was passed with, being duct taped on 59 minutes after the 11th hour and all. However, I personally cannot argue with the idea of a state having an official language.

Now I know what some folks are going to say here, as Mr. Arnold Schneider of the ACLU put it at the bottom of the article: "English-only laws do nothing constructive to increase English proficiency. They simply discriminate and punish those who have not yet learned English."

I'm sorry, but I don't share that sentiment anymore. In my view of things lately, a common, legally-binding ground of communication is necessary in this country, a way of exchanging information with each other that everyone living in a country should be obligated to know. I don't know why people think they have any business being in a country...not just America, but ANY country on the PLANET...if they have no intention of learning to speak or read the most commonly spoken language.

I'm not saying that English should be the ONLY language in America, good gods no. I'd be an absolute hypocrite to cry out for an abolishment of all other languages in this country while trying to get a grasp on Japanese. I'm just saying that we need a uniform way of being able to communicate with each other rather than bending over backwards to learn some way-out-of-our-league dialect for someone else simply because they don't know how to talk to us. They (or their ancestors) took it upon themselves to come to an English speaking country, so as far as I care, THEY should be adapting to the CULTURE, not vice versa.

...That's it.

A bit of a hassle, but well worth it.

Today....yeah, definitely a good day.

-Ran our semi-annual Physical Readiness Test today........AND PASSED! I somehow shaved more than a minute and a half off of my runtime compared to when I ran it last month during a trial. But I ain't complaining!

-Got my scooter back. I went down to the cycle shop to bitch them out about taking so long and to demand either a replacement or a refund...and they told me it would be ready to go in about 20 minutes. Which I spent looking for a good, cheap, yet sturdy set of gloves and riding jacket. Wootles.

-Nearly finished my Container deck. Currently putting the cards I need on order. Definitely cheaper than buying packs and HOPING for these cards so far.

-Finally got to see Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkahban. Y'know, for someone as bored of the jokes brought on by sharing last names with the little scamp, I rather like the movies.

And now....bed.
