A few days ago, as
drewtiggy might recall me mentioning, I'd purchased a hard drive enclousure made for 2.5" hard disks, the kind used in laptops...like the one that died on me earlier this month. I was mildly frustrated to find that the hard drive FROM said laptop didn't fit. Because it didn't fit, this drove me to the conclusion that the drive was a 3.5", the kind used in desktop computers.
Not the case. It was, in fact, a 2.5"...there were just some screws still attached from the casing the held it into my old laptop (which, by the way, is now completely beyond salvage. Due to one stupid stripped screw, rather than being able to just remove the keyboard/touchpad casing, I had to bend it back in order to get the hard drive out.)...so yeah, a few removed screws and it fit right in.
Salvage work on all my old files that I failed to back up (music, desktop images, emulation, various other tidbits) is at somewhere around 97-100% complete. I'll hold onto the drive just in case I come across anything I missed, and if, at some point in the future, I find I'm comfortable with doing so, I'll go ahead and wipe it to use as a second external, but for now, I'm just going to let this feeling of serenity run its blissful little course and let my soul have the same feeling of that little lion plush Capt. Lefina's holding.
Chii. ^_^
