Having lived in the area, I can fully believe this.

I salute the Police Chief for his disagreement with the police union's argument there.

That's precisely the statement I was saluting him for. He was disagreeing with the notion stated prior:

The police union says officers shouldn't pay because the citations are issued to the owner of a vehicle, in this case the county, and not to the driver.

A statement which I find to be complete and total bullshit. Good on the chief for seeing that too.

Ohhhhh. Okay. Sorry; I'm too used to pretty much everyone I know complaining about speed cameras, and I completely misread your comment in the original post to think it was more of that. That was a rather royal screw-up on my part. ;_;
