Geek house design: QRC Tile!

You ever seen QR Coding before?

For those who don't know it, QR (Quick Response) Codes are a 2-dimensional form of bar coding shaped in a square, developed over in Japan. Devices capable of reading it, such as various cell phones, can translate the code into text or, more commonly, a website address. (Anyone else who was watching the new episode of CSI:NY at the time this post was written will already be aware of this, however; it's actually what gave me the idea that I'll get to in the next sentence.)

For example, the one I used as a userpic in this post would go straight to my LJ page.

It's usually printed on paper or used on a webpage (I've seen a number of them on various escape-the-room games I've played), but what crossed my mind is how cool they would look on cabinet or floor tiling.

Try making a few yourself and you'll see what I mean! :]

I was even thinking of making it practical and stylish by having a series of them telling a story if scanned.

Granted...first I have to sell my folks on the idea. Not likely. XP Oh well, might be something to do later in life.
