xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Darius)
Final score: 4W, 3L (Dropped out after round 8 due to time and being mathematically eliminated from the Finals)

FIRST ROUND: Vs. Sam DECK: Random Beatdown.
He's a nice kid, but running 61 cards in his deck made me want to skull-thump him. Having nothing that could deal with my Harpies or Zorc made it all the worse for him. MATCH RECORD: 2-0. TOURNEY RECORD: 1-0

SECOUND ROUND: Vs. Kyle DECK: Warrior.
First Duel: He sets 2 spell/traps. My opening hand: Heavy Storm, Harpie Lady 1, all 3 Elegant Egotists. Result: Cleared out his side of the field, summoned a swarm of Harpies with a total of 9,150 ATK. Kersplat.
After that, however, he proceeded to return the favor twice over with interest, flattening me both times within 7 moves.
MATCH RECORD: 1-2. TOURNEY RECORD: 1-1

THIRD ROUND: Vs. Horlan. DECK: I dunno. He was a no-show. As soon as things started, I hit my cell phone's countdown timer for 10 minutes (the time allotted to a player before being disqualified). 10 minutes.....5 minutes (Match record went 1-0 instantly)....3 minutes....45 seconds....30 seconds...15....10...5...4...BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
DISQUALIFIED.
MATCH RECORD: DQ. TOURNEY RECORD: 2-1.

FOURTH ROUND: Vs. Julien. DECK: Couldn't tell. Was too busy getting flattened by it.
MATCH RECORD: 0-2. TOURNEY RECORD: 2-2. Never underestimate the grade-schoolers.

FIFRTH ROUND: Vs. Manuel. DECK: Burn.
This was the most memorable Match for me. The first duel he burnt me to a crisp while his Gravity Bind stopped me cold. Relinquished was no help as he never summoned a monster. 2nd duel, he set 4 cards right off the bat....and took the brunt of my Heavy Storm. The 3rd duel was what made it memorable, however. Late into it, I was at 2000 LP with Senju and Harpie Lady 1 on the field. He plays Wave Motion Cannon and summons Lava Golem....which, for the record, appears on MY side of the field and burns away 1000 of my LP at the start of my turn, dropping me to 1000, just enough for his Cannon to kill me next turn. I have Zorc in my hand to get rid of the stupid thing, but no Ritual. Both of my Manjus had been used at this point, so I needed a Sonic Bird.........and got it. I summon it, get the Contract with the Abyss from my deck, and turn Lava Golem into the Dark Master himself. But there's still a problem: He's got a face-down monster on the field and 3300 LP left. Even without a flip effect, it would prevent me from doing enough damage....unless Zorc's effect wiped it away first. But this was a risky one....on a 1-5 on a die roll, Zorc would scorch it. On a 6, his ability backfires and leaves me monsterless, which at this point means "dead".

I roll a 4. Game over, Manuel.
MATCH RECORD: 2-1 TOURNEY RECORD: 3-2

After that, my memory's a little foggy. I won my next round, lost in round 7 due to absolutely SHITTY draws (which left me in a foul mood for a little while), and decided to come back to the base.

Still, it was kinda nice seeing my Ritual Monster/Harpie deck gain so much popularity just by being so oddball and yet working so well. I did learn a few of its key weaknesses tonight, as well....most notably, it has next to NO ability to counter Spells and Traps. I've got a single Magic Jammer in there to counter Spells, and the best defense against Traps I have is a Royal Decree. This will require tweaking.

Oh well, it was still fun, especially pulling an out-of-my-ass victory like that against Manuel's Burn deck.

.......Man but my legs are sore again, though....too much walking! X_x (No busses. Which is especially stupid considering this was on a UNIVERSITY CAMPUS.)
