The other day, I put Suzaku (formerly my iPod Touch) into my pocket on the way home from work. Got in the car, sat down....heard a loud crack. Sure enough, her screen got pressed firmly between my cell phone and hip, and it broke.
This would be a lot more annoying if I hadn't decided recently to buy an iPad 2. It arrived the following day (the screen cover I bought for it, oddly, didn't, even though I ordered both simultaneously from Apple...forgot to check the mail today, so I don't know if it came in yet or not.), and now that I've gotten all of her music, notes, and apps transferred over, she's better than ever. ^_^ (Just to prove how much of a dork I am, her name's even laser-etched onto the back. *shrugs* )
Her old shell is now permanently docked to the speaker system I bought the day I got my new TV. I found a dirt-cheap replacement screen for it online the other day, along with the tools to do said replacement, so I'll be able to get that taken care of. Even better, the tools that I can use for that include a "spudger," just what I've been trying to find for the past few months to fix my PS3.
That'll come in handy if I ever decide to hook my game consoles up again. XP
MINOR UPDATE: The screen for the iPod came in today...no tools, though. :[ Regardless, though, its switchover to purely being a music player is, for all operational purposes, complete. In keeping with the naming theme of my electronic devices (named after members of the crew of my avatar's ship, Fenrir), I've redesignated it as Shizuka, after Suzaku's in-story twin. With any luck, the cover and tools will arrive tomorrow.
For now, though, I'm just gonna let Miyuki and Suzaku's batteries run down so I can give them a full recharge later. (You know how rechargeable batteries can get if you don't do that at least once in a while, right?)
