Earlier tonight, having burnt myself out on season 1 of Castle for the time being (2 discs down, 1 to go), I decided to go ahead and start proxying decks for the initial concept of "Too Many Cooks."
First thing I realized was that making additional cards for stuff like cutlery, pots, and pans was just going to be stupid. Ingredients (treating stuff like heat, for an oven or stovetop, like an ingredient) and mischievous actions alone were enough to make a fairly decent 60-card deck, and I figure if that number's good enough for Magic: the Gathering, it's good enough for this bit of nonsense.
As such, I took to the idea of having the playing field basically set up like a kitchen; if one were to make a play mat for this game, they'd find spots for stove work, with the pots and pans already there, additional spots for stuff like dicing up vegetables or mixing ingredients, with the knives and mixing bowls already there, and an oven for baking.
While it seems to be getting away from
ravenworks' original dream-based idea, the mental image I'm getting now is kind of a "Iron Chef meets Wacky Races" thing; each player is trying to make the best meals they can, but if they can get away with it, a bit of Dick Dastardly-style underhandedness can find its way into things as well.
...In any case, I only got 1 deck done, and didn't get any recipes made for it, so no playtests yet. Drat, and double drat!
