Ah, finally...
11 Sep 2012 00:10No more food poisoning/stomach flu/whatever leaving me stuck in bed, no more weather shutting down the campus...today I finally got to make the 13-mile trek out to the Eagle River campus for my Intro to Business class. (And yes, I can say that's a bit of a distance considering that's longer than I tended to drive in Nome in a week, and included my first experience of highway driving since moving out of DC...and my Explorer's first experience of driving over 50 MPH ever. This is genuinely taking more reacclimatizing on my part than I was prepared for!)
A few things to point out about the trip:
-The scenery between Anchorage and Eagle River is absolutely beautiful.
-Eagle River itself is a nice little community...which mad the fact that I decided to try and show up half an hour early was a good choice, because if there's one thing nice little communities are notorious for, it's causing me to get lost. That planned 30-minute early arrival wound up being closer to 6 minutes.
-It proved my biggest concern about this semester once and for all: the parking permit I dropped $125 on last month was a complete waste of money; neither of the facilities I attend classes at require it! :[ Oh well, turns out I only got an evening permit anyway, which at best would have made it valid for all of one of my classes. *shrug*
Anyway, got caught up on everything I missed, and now I'm back on track.
Let's see how long that lasts. XP
On a side note: moving down here has had an unexpectedly positive effect on my taste in music...I suppose having more than 2 radio stations available will do that, especially when at least one has stuff I actually want to listen to.
