Hatoful fan project status update:

Okay, so for the past week or so that little fan project I was working on had hit a bump in the road due to trying to find a way to get the software I’m using to make it cooperate.

A few minutes ago, something about a revelation in HolidayStar finally clicked with me in full pertaining to the character this project was centered on, and now that speed bump’s been replaced by a freaking cliff:

In the span of about 2 seconds of realizing things, my opinion on that character has been so radically altered that I’m not even sure I want to do this anymore. I really liked this character right up to that moment, but now…I just don’t know what to think of them.

As such, I'm putting the project on hiatus at the moment, and depending on how I decide things, I may just scrap it entirely.

At this point, I may as well.

The project I've been working on is a Shrine Visit mini-episode featuring Hitori Uzune. I'd always felt rather sad for, and sympathetic towards, him, so I started this, setting it in an AU where Operation Hatoful was cancelled some time after Nageki was brought to the St. Pigeonation's Medical Center.

I basically wanted to give one of my favorite characters something closer to a happy ending...

And then the revelation at the end of Chapter 4 hit that completely altered my perception of Hitori. I thought that "Kazuaki Nanaki" was just a pseudonym he created for himself to hide his identity and separate himself from his past...but now we know the truth: Kazuaki was a suicidally depressed bird that Hitori tricked into dying so that he could steal his identity and create a false self, turning him into nothing more than a pawn in his plan

He figuratively and literally stole Kazuaki's life.

Now I find myself rather hating Hitori...hence why the project's in limbo: I don't know if I want to give him that happier ending anymore.
