When I was in very early high school (like 8th grade-ish? But that could be a bit off, my memory isn't so good....) we went to a garage sale and got a new jacket for me. It's a pretty neat jacket, and actually still serves as my main jacket/coat to this day. It had two random things in the right pocket, exactly the sorts of random little things you would expect to find forgotten in a coat pocket: a split washer, and a yellow zipper head. For some reason, I decided to make it a point to hang on to those. They lived in that pocket throughout my entire high school and college career--not as good luck charms, as I'm a bit too skeptical to believe in such things, but as...a tradition, almost, something that comforted me whenever I reached into my pocket and felt that they were still there.

The only thing that finally ended that was the day I decided that, as successful as I had been keeping them in my pocket for however many years, I was a still a bit nervous about losing them, mostly because of how devastating it would be after making it a tradition to safeguard them for so long. Thus, I moved them just for the sake of giving them a safer home. They're on my keychain now.
