Namely, it's the day that Harold Camping, my most recent favorite crackpot to follow in the news, said that the 5 months of global suffering and anguish that were supposed to start back on May 21 were supposed to come to a grand and glorious climax with the entire universe winking out like someone just shut a TV off.
After May 21 came and passed with no global earthquakes rolling around the planet at 6 PM, he declared he'd been mistaken about how God's judgment had come, saying it was a spiritual one rather than a physical one...namely, that as of that moment, the doors to Heaven were shut and that everyone whose soul hadn't been saved yet was still screwed when the world still went KABLOOEY today.
Then, a few days ago, he changed his story again, saying the world's end would still be today, but more of a "pff" than a titanic firecracker.
And now, with nearly 80% of the planet already into October 22nd, he's....well, haven't heard anything yet, but needless to say, it's a safe bet that he was the same thing he's always been: Dead wrong.
So yeah, happy Apocalypse, everyone. Hope you enjoyed all the nothing-happened that went on today. :]
