Had to edit this post when I first made it because I included some faulty math; a minute ago I was redoing it in my head and realized I was working with the wrong can sizes; silly me forgot cans are 12-oz, not 20 like vending machine bottles.

So, retrying this...

Sale that local Safeway had the day I did all this: 2 12-packs for $11, or 3 2-litres for $6.

1 can = 12 oz
2 12-can packs = 288 oz
$11 / 288 oz = 3.82 cents an ounce

1 2-litre bottle = 67.628 oz
3 2-litre bottles = 202.884 oz
$6 / 202.884 oz = 2.96 cents an ounce


Even without factoring in the sale I already knew the bottles were the better deal; the price tags listed a "per pint" price on them as well, so even at non-sale prices it would have been more for the money.
