Playmat designs: Yosenju

For a while now, I've had a hobby of designing playmats for myself and some of my friends who play Yu-Gi-Oh!, making them to fit certain deck themes.

Recently, I took interest in an upcoming monster archetype known as the Yosenju, a group of weasel/tanuki youkai whose playstyle revolves around taking the opponent's field and returning it back to their hand to swing for a clean hit, and then clearing the field themselves to prevent them from being destroyed....classic hit-and-run guerrilla tactics.

Playtesting it online has left me feeling it's a rather fun deck to play, so naturally I decided to make a playmat for them. I opted to try and make this one look like an old Japanese painting, giving it a bit of an Okami feel, to fit the motif.

Took me the better part of the last 3 days, but I like how it came out:

(This is only a sample-sized image, of course; the real deal is 25 inches x 15 inches, designed to fit onto a standard-size 24x14 playmat.)
