Why is it that Americans can be so indifferent to massive, brain-crushing amounts of death, but when a small flake of it shows up they go ballistic?
I mean, seriously...about .000004% of the world's population has contracted SARS and the death toll from it has (from what I know at the moment) not even broken 1,000 yet...and people are calling on the governments of the world to wipe out SARS.
The Taliban (whom I agree need to be wiped out just because of the blatant disregard for human life they have shown themselves to have) take the lives of a few hundred American citizens, and (again, rightfully so) we call for them to be smeared off the face of the Earth.
At the same time, however, the tobacco industry's little white, filter-tipped cancer sticks kill more than a hundred times that many people on a DAILY basis...and yet you never hear anyone talking about reducing THEM to a smear on the pavement.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to actually make a point here...that's just something I felt the need to mention out of pure fucking confusion.
