And so begins my, Hau, and Gladion's raid on Aether Paradise. Some would suggest stealth, cunning, and various acts of ninjutsu/parkour to get through quietly.
I take a slightly different approach. Naturally, my grace and whit run me straight into an AF member itchingfor a fightto get his ass kicked. For Lillie's sake, I will gladly oblige.
[ROUND 1: vs Dugtrio]
How I haven't fought a Dugtrio yet is beyond me, but given that they're part Steel, I suspect Erinys can do a number on them with Flamethrower. She does. ^_^
[ROUND 2: vs Toucannon]
Flying-type calls for either Electric or Ice, which means either Langstrom or Rimefrost.
[ONE COIN FLIP LATER]
How the hell did that thing land on its edge!? O_o;; Oh screw it, Rimefrost needs the Exp more anyway.
...Aand my thumb slips and hits B, leaving Erinys out. *facepalm* I waste a turn switching, and Rimefrost graces me with a dodged Drill Peck. Whew! Alright, let's see...try out Blizzard, or stick with the tried and true?
...Screw it, I referenced them a moment ago. Blizzard it is. ...Aaaand it missed. Figures. The Toucannon's Screech drops her defense, while Ice Punch just drops him and brings Rimefrost up to 49.
"What does this mean? What does this mean!?" It means you lost, doofus. :p Now then, do I actually try sneaking past the next AF empl*pffffffffft*HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAwho am I kidding.
[ROUND 1: vs Kecleon]
Erinys doesn't have anything super-effective here, but given it's just a Normal-type, I think I can handle the Toxic/Venoshock combo without too much difficulty. Its Slash does a decent bit of damage, but then Venoshock...doesn't KO it and causes its Color Change ability to turn it to Poison-type. Oops? At least it didn't turn Ghost, since it followed up with Shadow Claw. A STAB boost could've really hurt!
I spend its last turn using a Super Potion on Erinys. It uses Camouflage, turns back to Normal, and then drops from Toxic.
[ROUND 2: vs Stoutland]
Another Normal? Okay, time to let Rimefrost have some more fun. I'm making a prediction right now: It Odor Sleuths and then drops from Wake-Up Slap.
I was wrong. WUS took half its HP, then it used Work Up to boost itself up so that it could hit the floor REALLY HARD after the next WUS. Obsidian joins Serana and Serenity at Lv 50 afterwards, and the AF employee just gives me a look that says "fuck this shit I'm out."
... ...Okay, let's fast forward these, I don't want to make this a days-long writeup of fighting a near-endless stream of AF employees. I'll see you guys when someone interesting shows up. Time to steam-roll these poor saps faster than the speed of light!
VS Multiple Aether Foundation Employees:
-Arbok, Erinys hits 50, Lurantis
-Parasect, Sudowoodo, Langstrom hits 50, Drifblim, Serana hits 51
-Primeape, Rimefrost hits 50 and thus puts my whole party halfway to max level...wait, the Primeape was it?
-Uh-oh, this one has a mask. And an Arcanine. And nothing else. And he got critted by Splintered Stormshards...ow. RIP Arcanine. Oh, and he was guarding the TM for Toxic! My favorite! :D
OKAY, THAT'S EVERYONE ON THIS FLOOR, HIT THE BRAKES!!
[SLAMMIN' ON THE BRAKES!!]
With the write-up back at sub-ludicrous speeds, I rejoin Hau and Gladion at the elevator, explaining why I made sure nobody could follow us or report our intrusion. The elevator can't be made to go down from here by visitors (or interlopers), so we have no choice but to go up...and run right into He of the Infinite Ego, Faba.
[*FACEPALM*]
Wow, even my interface is disgusted with this guy. Gladion is equally fed up with him, and raises an excellent point about being a Trainer in the Pokemon World: It doesn't matter if you're a kid, an adult, or whatever...everyone has an equal chance to kick this guy's ass.
And so Faba, who proclaims himself to be Aether Paradise's last line of defense...makes a horrendous blunder by letting that knowledge slip. And then gets ready for the beating of a lifetime.
[CRUSH THIS JERK]
With pleasure.
[VS Hypno.... ...wait. Seriously? That's all he has is a freakin' Hypno?]
Far be it from me to pass on an easy win. Gigavolt Havoc time! :D ...And it survives, somehow, then puts Langstrom to sleep via Hypnosis. Alright then...I'm just gonna take this turn to heal Erinys, while he...uses Hypnosis again? Did Langstrom wake up or something? Anyway, I'll try Flash Cannon and see if holy crap Langstrom is still awake!? Way to go, buckaroo! And down goes Faba!
Oh my god the expression on his face is priceless. If only I could've fired up the Poke Finder right there! XD Anyway, we get Faba to spill the beans on what's going on downstairs, namely attempts to create Ultra Wormholes (as we knew from our last visit), and....he's taking us? Either Langstrom nailed him with that Gigavolt Havoc as well as his Hypno, or we're walking into a trap.
[SO... TRAP?]
Trap. On we go, down into the super-secret depths of Aether Paradise...which Gladion is somehow familiar with? He and Hau trade some verbal jabs since Hau clearly doesn't get that he's been here before, Gladion confirms my theory of this being a trap, and we split up to check out the two Secret Labs down here. Gladion takes A, Hau and I take B, Rotom gets a well-deserved case of the heeby-jeebies, and Hau gives me a Max Revive. Thank you. ^_^
And off we go right into 3 Masked AF Employees. See? Trap.
[VS Muk]
Yuck. Nothing super-effective against it....note to self, get Ground-type attack for someone. Well, whatever. Gigavolt Havoc to open...oh, and a crit to close! Nice one, Langstrom! So who's next?
[VS Magneton]
Oh geez, a mirror match...I think not. Erinys? Tag in, and don't mind the Screech. Just Inferno Overdrive this guy and let's move on to the 3rd and final round.
[YOL TOOR SHUL!!]
...Ah dammit, it has sturdy. :/ The Flash Cannon does little, though, and Flamethrower finishes the meltdown. Langstrom goes to 51...guess it's time to swap someone else to the fro--oh, right, 3rd round. Oh, and apparently they're developing a new kind of Poke Ball for catching stuff not found in Alola down here.
Psst. Guys? Poke Balls work just fine in other regions besides Alola. The ones mom brought with us from Kanto work just great.
Mad Scientist #3 says we'll have to beat them if we want to know what they're doing to Cosmog.
[CHALLENGE ACCEPTED]
Damn right.
[VS Porygon2]
Ooo, the HD remake! The AF Mask uses an X Speed to boost its...well, speed...and then Gigavolt Havoc wipes 98% of hits HP. It's just fast enough to use a Discharge...to no real effect...before Flash Cannon puts this battle on Alt-F4 status.
Okay, so they're using Nebby to create Ultra Wormholes...no wonder Lillie ran from this place with it back in the prologue. Anyway, on to Secret Lab B. Gladion blocks entry to SL A, going on about how he and Type: NULL are rather alike, made to be what they are by their creators...in his case, his mother, who saw him as a possession rather than a child, and in T:N's case...oh. So SL A is where Type: NULL was born, a weapon crafted to fight the Ultra Beasts.
Holy hell I feel sorry for these two now. Anyway, Hau and I charge into SL B and get into a doubles battle against 2 AF Employees, the last line of defense against their research.
[VS Huntail & Gorebyss]
Raichu and Langstrom lead the charge...crud, I forgot to swap out in all the emotion...against a pair of Water-types. Watt a shocking turn of events. Let's do this, buddy!!
And down they go, bringing Erinys up to 51 and replaces Nasty Plot with Venom Drench (now enabling Toxic to become a means of severe stat-saps...see why Poison's one of my favorite Types?) Even in defeat they refuse to cough up Lillie's location. Jerks. Maybe we should fry them again, eh Hau? *high-five* Anyway, time to look around for clues, starting with the "read me" book on the shelf.
[AETHER REPORT: ULTRA WORMHOLES]
Beyond the Ultra Wormholes that Professor Mohn (Note to self, ask that man some serious questions next time I'm at Poke Pelago!) discovered lies a different dimension.
By investigating the changes in mass there, we can predict the existence of Pokemon-like life.
We have dubbed them Ultra Beasts for now.
Riveting, but not useful ATM. Maybe the computer?
[AETHER REPORT: COSMOG]
(Bingo.) Cosmog is hypothesized to be a type of Ultra Beast that hails from another dimension (HubidaWHAA?) A dimension that we have named Ultra Space. When placed under sufficient stress, it reveals the power to create and open Ultra Wormholes in order to escape from its suffering. (So THAT'S how Lillie escaped.) We are now working on a device that will allow us to manipulate the Ultra Wormholes created when Cosmog is subjected to extreme stress...
And Hau runs off to warn Gladion about this revelation, and he postulates that the fact that they were hurting Cosmog...Nebby...for these experiments is why Lillie ran away with it.
...Wait, how'd you know that? ...And for that matter, why was Lillie ever even here in the first place!?
Anyway, nothing more here...seems Faba knew this was a dead end. Like I said, trap. Back up to 1F, then?
Aaaand right into another trap. *facepalm* Gladion, you've got Larry over there. Hau and I'll take Curly and Moe over here dammit I forgot to swap out Langstrom again.
[VS Anorith & Lileep]
And once again it still works out to my favor; while Raichu's Electric attacks won't do much to them, Steel is doubly effective. We Electro Ball/Flash Cannon the Anorith and take it out with the quickness, boosting Serenity to 51, while Raichu eats a crit from an Energy Ball. Doesn't even drop to yellow HP levels. Psychic and Flash Cannon wrap this one up. Nyuk nyuk nyuk!
Seems Gladion's warming up to having company along for this. Guess Hau's words back at the Battle Dome took to heart. :D ...And now Wicke's here. Hope she's not gonna fight did she just call Gladion "young master?"
Ah, she does the opposite of fight us and heals our teams up. She lets us know that Lusamine has Lillie, and Gladion confirms my suspicions about her (or would if I didn't already know she was a psychopath).
OKAY, BEFORE I DO ANYTHING ELSE...RIMEFROST TO THE FRONT AND SAVE!!
And awaaay we go! ...about 20 feet down the hall to Faba and the Three Stooges. Seems he knew we'd eventually head for the president, and so set an ambush between us and her...which, as Hau points out while thanking him for his kindness, means he's currently standing between us and our rescue targets, Lillie and Cosmog, thus confirming that this was, in fact, the right direction to go.
[WOW, DID HE JUST GET BURNED BY *HAU?*]
Yes. Yes he did. XD
[EPIC FAIL]
With Hau having a well-deserved laugh, Gladion and I take on Schmuck #1 and Schmuck #2.
[ROUND 1: vs Magmar & Electabuzz]
...Great. That Magmar's gonna be a problem for Rimefrost. She Shadow Balls it first, then the Electabuzz uses Light Screen while Magmar hits us both with Lava Plume. Thankfully, Type: NULL takes it down with, well, Take Down. XD
[ROUND 1.5: vs Houndoom & Electabuzz]
ANOTHER Fire-type!? Oh wait, it's also Dark, which means Wake-Up-Slap should do the trick. It just about does, then Electabuzz Screeches at T:N while Houndoom Fire Fangs Rimefrost for the KO. T:N hits Electabuzz with another Take Down. I bring in Obsidian to hold things up for a sec while I recover Rimefrost with that Max Revive Hau gave me earlier. Electabuzz Thunder Waves T:N and gets Aerial Ace'd in return for the KO, boosting Rimefrost to 51, while Houndoom Embargos Obsidian.
[ROUND 2: vs Manectric & Houndoom]
One item that Embargo doesn't stop, apparently? Z-Crystals. I hit the Manectric full-force with Splintered Stormshards, eliminating it from the equation entirely, Serenity hits 52, and T:N gets downed by a Fire Fang. Zoroark subs in just in time to watch the Houndoom get eliminated with Brick Break, shattering the Light Screen and the last of Houndoom's HP. Langstrom hits 52, and the last of Faba's guard fall.
Alright then, Hau, what say we wrap this up and get Faba to open the door for us, eh? ...Oh hell. Apparently while we were here, Torracat evolved to Incineroar. Niiiice. :D
[VS FABA AND SCHMUCK #3]
[ROUND 1: vs Ledian & Claydol]
Raichu leads with Electro Ball, followed up by Ice Punch to 1-2 the Ledian. Claydol uses Earth Power on Raichu to some significant effect.
[ROUND 1.5: vs Pupitar & Claydol]
Pupitar's weak to Ice-type, right? Apparently Psychic does little to Claydol, while Ice Punch almost KO's Pupitar. Earth Power drops poor Raichu, and Pupitar...does something super-effective to Rimefrost that does all of 30 damage? o_O??
Leafeon tags in for Raichu. If Psychic didn't hurt Claydol much, it must be either Psychic or Steel. We'll let Wake-Up Slap find out. ...Psychic-type it is then. Leafeon Giga Drains the Pupitar, and Schmuck #3, out of the battle, boosting Serana to 52.
[ROUND 1.75: vs Claydol]
If it's part-Psychic, then Ghost moves should work well, so let's see what Shadow Ball does. oop, he withdrew it...and brought out Hypno, who eats the Shadow Ball for severe damage, followed by Giga Drain. Shadow Ball finishes it, and Claydol comes back out after Giga Drain hits dead air.
[ROUND 2: vs Bruxish]
No more mercy, you bespectacled bastard. Rimefrost? NEVER-ENDING NIGHTMARE.
Rimefrost hits 52 for the overkill KO, leaving poor Leafeon to once again Giga Drain nothing. Ehehehe, sorry Hau. ^_^;;
[FINAL ROUND: vs Claydol]
Shadow Ball weakens it, and Giga Drain FINALLY connects again for the KO! BOOYA, BUDDY! :D
Schmuck #3 runs off, leaving Faba as truly the last line of defense. We ask for the gate key to the passage behind him, but he doesn't want to give it for a moment.
Type: NULL, tear his arms off.
[OH, YOU MEAN THIS GATE KEY.]
And with that bit of persuasion and a quick party-heal, we head straight into the depths of Aether Paradise's secret hell, where Gladion proceeds to tear through Grunt after Grunt of Guzma's forces...great, so Big Bad Guzma's playing bodyguard for Queen Psycho now?
Guess we'll find out next time. See you then.
I take a slightly different approach. Naturally, my grace and whit run me straight into an AF member itching
