D'OH!!!!

Wouldn't you know it...an Air Force gal I know here on base (who, of course, is hot as hell) invites me to a party for one of her female friends who is returning from Kuwait tonight, and my allergies pick today to go completely HAYWIRE.

You should still go. Allergies are understandable and even overlooked with the right words. Use the opportunity to set something up for a later time. It could still be a good party for you.
