xaq_the_aereonI'll start things off by summing the Anime USA convention up in a single word:
In all honesty, while it wasn't TOO bad a convention, it wasn't worth all the money I paid for it. If they'd rented a space twice as large and crammed it into a day and a half it would've been fine, but it didn't really have 3 days worth of stuff to do.
Friday was rather lousy, actually. On top of managing to lock myself out of my hotel room TWICE, I also spent the night panicking over the loss of my ID and credit cards...mostly the ID card, since without that I couldn't get back on base. The good news was that I knew where they were, in the dealer's room.......bad news was that it was closed for the night.
Fortunately, I got them back the next morning about 2 minutes after they opened up. *PHEW!*
Yesterday was the best part of the whole convention, as a few of my RPGWW buddies were there...namely Shini (whom until then I coulda swore lived out in Ohio rather than here in the DC area!), Bes, and Bes' sister Trom, better known as milady Kristen-sama. ^___^ While things didn't...QUITE go as planned, we still had a good time overall. When we weren't busy with DDR or letting them watch me make a fool of myself in YuGiOh duels (I've been doing QUITE poorly lately...haven't won a duel in almost a month.), we went over to Shini's place to watch a few episodes of Haibane Renmei...EXCELLENT series. Still, the best part of it was getting to spend quality time with milady. ^___^ I also gave Kristen the Sesshomaru plushie I'd bought her. Seems she liked it.
Sadly, around 11 last night we had to part ways. That was honestly the part of the convention that sucked the most. ;__;
As for today.....well, let's see. I checked out the game room, the dealer's room, decided that the con had officially hit "BORING", and left.
After that, I went to Springfield Mall...only to find nothing was open. *FACEPLANT* So then I decided to go to Potomac Mills mall, picked up the first season of Slayers and a couple of card packs, and came home.
TOTAL SWAG FOR THE WEEKEND:
2 Yu-Gi-Oh booster pack tins (Total Defense Shogun for Drewtiggy and Command Knight)
Total of 14 booster packs
2 Oh My Goddess doujinshi (can't read the titles since there's not an ounce of English on either one...)
A Transformers "Superion" action figure set (the purchase I made and forgot to reclaim my ID and credit card from...d'oh!)
Sesshomaru plushie for Kristen
...That's it.
