xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Mic In Trouble)

Had my first day of TAP class today (For those of you not of the .mil persuasion: TAP = Transition Assistance Program...it's a class designed to help military personnel ease into, or back into, civilian life. And yes, that does mean what you think it means...in about 3 months, I'm outta here.)

They've got some good info, but the fact that I had to wear my dress white uniform was a bit embarassing. Why? Because this is the first time I'd worn this new one...as a result, it wasn't until today that I found out that the pants still needed to be hemmed and that the sleeves were just a little too long (holding my arms straight down, then come right out to my fingertips!)

Not a problem, I figure, I'll just wear my working whites for the week....only to hit the exact opposite problem.

So what's a quick thinker like me to do?

*holds up the dress whites, turned inside out, with the ends of the sleeves/pantlegs rolled in and held in place with some strategically placed pieces of mailing tape* TA-DAAAAH!

With any luck this'll get me through the rest of the week.

*shrugs* Hey, it's not the first time I've had to get creative with uncooperative uniforms...had a pair of dress blue trousers that didn't fit anymore after boot camp, so I stitched about 4 feet of dental floss through the hem, looped it around the buttons, and made an instant drawstring out of it. Put 'em on, pull the free end tight, loop it around a few buttons, and I was good to go. :D

Anyway, Super Mario Galaxy beckons for me to finish it up. Ja na!

You bum.

I would LOVE to get out.

But as luck would have it, mylife turned in such ways as to KEEP ME IN FOR LIFE!

I can't complain too much, though. At least I'll be able to provide for the family I'll rarely see.

My stepfather always hemmed his work uniforms with staples and superglue. Seemed to work okay until he married my mother and she had a fit.
