xaq_the_aereonAs today was pretty much a dead day for me, I spent most of it watching King of Braves: GaoGaiGar...again. XP As usual, it put ideas for mecha and power-suit designs in my head.
One in particular I found amusing was one designed how a giant robot would look if it were built in, say, WWI. One of its redeeming features? The classic Rocket Punch...only without rockets. Rather, along the wrist are folding propeller vanes. When it gets ready to launch, they fan out, the robot spins them with its other hand (Contact!) to get it going, and then...WOOSH! Away it goes, flying on a primitive form of fly-by-wire, controlled directly by the mecha pilot through a cable (hey, this thing IS old fashion) that acts as both a transmission medium and a return line.
Four more sets of propellers would be along its arms, one on each shoulder and one on each other arm, allowing it to fly through the air looking like a B-52.
...I might have to actually draw this thing now. o.o
