As you may have heard from today, Mike Begich beat Ted Stevens in Alaska's Senate race today, thus sending the incumbent's chances of re-election down the tubes.

Thank God it's a different series of tubes than the Internet. Connection up here sucks enough as it is.

It's true that nobody more richly deserved to lose than Ted Stevens, but I wish he'd lost in a primary to a better Republican instead.

Same here, but since that didn't happen, I was honestly hoping he'd win, actually. That way he could resign and then have a replacement assigned by Gov. Palin.

Well, here's hoping Begich does a better job than I fear he will, but the fact that this puts the Senate that much closer to being indomitably controlled by the Democratic Party just scares the living crap out of me.
