Last night my folks talked me into going into a local Volunteer Fire Dept. charity event (yes, yes, Nome does in fact need fire fighters. You can't just throw a crapload of snow on a fire and put it out every time. :b), which I was more than willing to go to since A) I was kinda bored and B) I had an inexplicable smell of propane in my room. (Still haven't figured out what the hell happened to cause THAT, since the only propane in this household is attached to the grill on the porch.)
I was just expecting them to have a big Bingo parlor or something...I was half right. The right side of the Nome Community Center was, in fact, dedicated to Bingo. The left side was more of a carnival game setup (especially those Wheel games where you pay a few bucks for a random selection of numbers, then they spin a big wheel and whatever number it lands on wins a cheap-but-cool prize) with all sorts of neat stuff.
Oh, and did I mention that pretty much everyone within a hundred miles of Nome was there? ...Yeah, that place was packed.
Had a ball for the hour or so we were there, even though we didn't win anything. On the plus side, the house no longer stunk of propane when we got back.
...Now it stinks of bleach. But that's just 'cuz mom's cleaning the bathroom. *shrugs*
