xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Default)
As you may know, recently I picked up Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the Gamecube, a perfect reincarnation of the Sega Dreamcast hit. At first I thought I'd gotten it simply because I'm a die-hard Sonic fan and that happened to be my 2nd favorite game in the series (I'm sorry, but Sonic 3 & Knuckles will NEVER be topped.)

Found out there was another reason I'd gotten it that I wasn't aware of...seems I'm a bit of an addict of the most pointless, ridiculous, and yet strangely amusing things in the world...Chao raising.

Currently I've got 7 of them:
Atom, a Dark swimmer who'll soon be a swimmer/power mix.
Spike, a Hero flier who's learning to swim.
WOW, a purple-skinned power-based Dark flier-to-be I got from the Black Market
Rusty, a BM-bought, grey-skinned Hero who thanks to bazillions of unicorn melds is practically MAXED on running (Seriously. It maxes somewhere around 900-999 and he's got around 875! This little frigger ZOOMS!)
Fuzzie, from the Dark Garden, who I'm raising flat-out normal...still a child Chao.
SOUL of the Hero Garden, whose staying neutral and getting nothing but Dragons and Phoenixes to become a Fliier/Power. Also a kid.
And finally, WOW and Rusty's grape-skinned brat, Echo, who'll be a neutral swimmmaster before I'm done. Just makes me wish I could change that H in his name to a C. ^^

How'd I raise that many to maturity so quick? Took advantage of a massive pair of glitches in the Hero Garden.
1) Y'know that pillar behind the GBA connector thing where you can send your Chao to your GameBoy Advance? Set a Chao down behind that pillar in the right spot and...surprise! They can't move!
2) If you set an animal down just the right distance from a Chao, not only will they power up from it like normal, but you can reuse it! Tricky to do...if they're able to move around, that is...

The best good/evil character I found to use this with was Tails/Shadow, since they set the animal straight down and then let it "jump" forward, practically negating the risk of the Chao reaching out and grabbing the animal from you and ruining the glitch. Eggman's just useless, since he scoots forward when he picks an animal up, so you have to keep moving or else you get to close to your Chao and then PUHF, animal's useless.
As a consequence, though, now all my Hero Chaos (as well as WOW) simply adore Tails, and all my Dark Chaos (as well as Rusty and Spike) come running to Shadow.

Yes, call me cheap if you want. Cheating is something I have no problems with, especially when the programmers fark up and leave something like that in their game. Tough crap Sega, your goof is my gain.

Besides, Rusty looks just plain adorable as a Chaonicorn. ^^
