xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Default)
I should've kept my mouth shut. I bitch and moan about how today can't go any worse, I tell my friend [livejournal.com profile] zerohourk3k how violent I can act towards people when I lose someone important to me...and then I check my email.

This morning, my grandpa had a heart attack...and now he's gone. Thanks to my intuition I somehow knew the last time I saw him was going to be exactly that...but even so, this just hurts like shit to even try to comprehend. He was one of my favorite relatives, after all...no, I take that back. Grandpa was my favorite. Period. We always had fun times on visits, especially when we got together with some of the rest of the family for a few hands of pinochle.

And now I'll never get to see him again...I can't even go to his funeral because of my schooling. Not that I would...I hate to admit it, but I can't stand funerals. I don't have the stomach or the willpower for them...the pain, the nausea, and the urge to just break down and cry I'm feeling right now are nothing compared to how I am if I have to stand there and say farewell. I just can't do it.

All I can do right now is let my pain run its course...I know a few of you might want to try and help me. I'll warn you right now: Aside from leaving a comment on here, don't try to comfort me. My grief spells aren't deep enough that I need help dealing with them, but they can turn to misdirected rage real quick when someone tries to take pity on me, so for your own sake, just let me deal with this...please..

If I was from Alabama I'd be kicking myself right now, thanks to this dipshank named Chief Justice Roy Moore. You know the one...he's the guy who refuses to follow a direct order to remove a monument of the Ten Commandments out of his courtroom.

His primary argument? "I will never deny the God upon whom our laws and country depend." Excuse me? Where the hell does it say anywhere in our governing doctrines (y'know, the state laws, city laws, the U.S. Constitution..) that our country was founded on the higher power which Christians refer to as God?

Last I checked, not ONLY did no legal governing document say anything like that, most of them, including the big one we all know as the Constitution, state that America will NOT be based on any sort of religion! I distinctly recall that 250-year-old insurance policy for freedom and happiness saying that no part of the US government will condemn *OR ENDORSE* any religion upon the people. I believe the mostly commonly accepted terminology is "Seperation of Church and State".

So what the hell gives this putz the right to demand to put a blatantly Judeo-Christian object in a blatantly federal courthouse? I'll tell you what does. ABSOFREAKINLUTELY NOTHING! Hate to break it to ya your Honor, but what you're doing is flat out UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

I'm not bashing the Ten Commandments here, by the way...as much as I've slammed the Bible in the past, I actually find a few of the Thou Shalt Nots to be pretty damned morally sound..I mean, not cheating on your spouse/lover, not killing someone without a damned good reason, not stealing stuff...those are just keen in my book, I'll say that much right now. All I'm saying is that you, Chief Justice Moore, ought to be ashamed of yourself and/or removed from your post...you're supposed to uphold our nation's laws and here you are taking one of its FOUNDING PRINCIPLES and spitting on it.

Besides, everyone on the freakin' planet knows about the Big Ten, so why the hell do you need a reminder in there anyway!? Just spare yourself the embarassment and the hassle and TAKE THE STUPID SLABS OUT OF THERE ALREADY.

...And then of course you've got the even bigger dipshanks known as his supporters. I suppose it would take a bunch of Bible Belters to want to stand in searing heat, face the promise of arrest, and stare down a forklift that wouldn't have any problem reducing them to street pizza all so that one completely idiotic display could stay where it legally doesn't belong. Might as well have a bunch of drunks on Viagra standing out in front of a Nevada bordello just so that their favorite $50 slut doesn't have to obey the house madame after being told she was fired. It'd be just as stupid...and probably a lot more amusing.

Hate to break it to you pinheaded Biblethumpers, but as much as you may not like it, the USA is NOT a Christian country. Stand there in front of that building as much as you like. In the end the law of the land will prevail. You'll all either die of heatstroke, get pressed under an errant Caterpillar, get raped in an 8x10 cell, or get beaten to death by a mob, and that copy of the Commandments will still be coming down out of there. So for your God's sake, save yourself the embarassment, face the facts, and just let it go already.

Sheesh.
