xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Default)
8:30 came along, and I finally dragged myself out of bed, called the quarterdeck, and told them I was checking out on leave. After some paper signing on both ends, my week of freedom from work and opression began.

So I started it with my biggest plan for the day: Caught the Metro out to White Flint & went to Dream Wizards to see if they were having a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament today. Turns out......they weren't. Nothing but Magic: The Gathering today. Ahh well. So I pick up some new deck protector gear, 2 packs of Flaming Eternity (one of which netted an Ultimate Rare Silent Swordsman LV 5..WEWT!) After that, I started back home, but on the way, I decided to get off a few dozen stops early and go check out the Smithsonian National Zoo.

Not bad for a zoo that doesn't have an aquatic wildlife exhibit, although the pandas were really cool. Spent about 20 minutes watching two of them fighting over and chomping on some bamboo. Sad how they still had better dinner manners than half my family...

That trip got cut short, however, by an approaching thunderstorm. This prompted my next purchase: An umbrella. I dunno why I bother to mention that, but it's a cool umbrella nonetheless.

Finally, after a few more uneventful stops, including a stop to Waterfront Mall (aka The Most Pathetic Mall In The Universe...if you're ever in DC, DO NOT GO THERE.), I got back to the Branch Avenue station. I waited for the bus for about 20 minutes, then got fed up and started the 3 mile hike back to base.

This must have been a blessing in disguise. On the way, I stopped at a 7-11 to pick up a quick bite to eat and, feeling lucky, tried my luck at a World Championship Poker scratch-off ticket, one that plays the same way as Texas Hold 'Em.

Once I get this thing cashed I will be $885 to the richer. :D :D :D :D :D

UPDATE: OR SO I THOUGHT. Turns out this scratcher's not a winner after all. I thought I'd won because I had a bunch of pairs & 3-of-a-kinds and 2-pairs, while the hand I had to beat had none of those......but then I looked a little more closely, and found out the sunuvabitch had a STRAIGHT. >___< Crapnappers!

UPDATE ONCE AGAIN: This ticket's not a complete loss after all! While game *2*, which I thought had the massive prize on it, was a failure, game *1*, which I first thought was a complete loser, turned out to win $50!

Still, in closing, pbYesNo.TodayGood=YES. ...even with that sudden bit of softened disappointment.

...That's it.
