Okay, I can sum up the last 24 hours in 4 words:
THEY WERE A BLAST.
Last night, milady Kristen and I went out to a club called Midnight, which had a very goth motif/crowd and played a lot of trance and DDR-ish tracks, to celebrate our friend Shauna's birthday. I'll admit I was a little apprehensive about going there at first, not knowing what to expect plus the fact that Kristen and Shauna ran a little late (Me? Go into an unfamiliar environment alone? ARE YOU MAD!?), but after a short while I really got to like it. Had a bit of a jolt when I ran into a gal I got a little too familiar with at Katsucon last year...my Miho cosplaying glompergirl. Just my luck that she recognized me, too. Thankfully, though, she's gotten a bit lighter and a lot better at balancing her weight.
Had a REAL jolt, however, when I saw two Marines in FULL DRESS UNIFORM enter the place. ...Turns out they just needed a restroom, but still. TWO MARINES. FULL DRESS. IN A GOTH CLUB. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, dood.
Once Shauna, Kristen, and milady's brother Jason showed up, things got real fun. I learned three things most of all that night:
1) I can't dance worth shit.
2) Nobody there gives a damn.
3) Milady and I have a collective mind purity of about 0.003%. XD
Sadly, I had to take off around 12:15, shortly after Shauna's birthday cake arrived, to get some shuteye for today's big event: The Yu-Gi-Oh "Lost Millenium" sneak preview tournament. The matches themselves weren't anything spectacular (although at one point I DID get a Des Wombat up to 5200 ATK AND get him to attack twice for an instant kill! :D), but the card haul was beautiful. I got 2 of the 4 cards I was looking for today:
GOT:
-Don Zaloog (from "Pharaonic Guardian", traded for him.)
-Elemental Mistress Doriado (LIGHT, 3 star, Spellcaster/Ritual/Effect, 1200/1400. Can only be Ritual Summoned by "Doriado's Prayer". Also counts as an EARTH, FIRE, WIND, and WATER monster. This doesn't seem too special until you consider that a lot of cards from the past few sets depended on you having monsters of a specific element out, and a few required you to have one of EACH element out. CHA-CHING.)
DIDN'T GET:
-Reshef the Dark Being (Uberpowerful LIGHT Fiend Ritual Monster. Discard a card to take control of an enemy monster for 1 turn. Use once per turn.)
-Ultimate Insect LV 7 (Ultimate form of Ultimate Insect. has 2800 ATK and, if brought out by LV 5's effect, weakens all enemies by 700.)
The only downside to today? Elemental Mistress Doriado has inspired me to theme a deck around her. This will be Deck #14 for me.
