xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Default)
Normally, when I make a Trading Card Game (TCG) related post, it involves a deck I constructed for an already-existing game...this time around, though, it's probably the most ridiculous idea for a game I've ever had.

Simplest way to put it? A TCG version of Chess.

The playing field would be much like a chess board. Each player would start out with 16 "piece" cards. Each piece's card would show the manner in which it could move (some could only move in one particular direction, some could move diagonally a few spaces or straight one space, some could move in a manner that would make a Knight think they were on crack) as well as the manner in which it captures (some would be able to take any piece in an adjacent square, some could take every piece in a diagonal line behind them, some would leap forward 3 spaces to take a piece...it could get ridiculous.). Some would even have "crowned" forms, represented by a card that has card info on the top and inverted card info on the bottom...when that card got to the back row on your opponent's side, you would flip the card around and use its 2nd, generally more useful, form.

Naturally, those 16 pieces wouldn't be the whole deck. Whenever your turn starts and whenever you took a piece, you would be allowed to draw a card from your deck. You could wind up with cards that have simple effects (such as moving a piece on the board over a few squares), some that would have really BIZARRE effects (like making your opponent switch a piece they have in play for one in their deck, or making pieces within a certain column unable to be taken or move or what have you), or you could wind up with replacement pieces for ones you lost (not exceeding the 16-piece limit, naturally).

Among the 16 pieces you take from your deck to start, 1 would be required to the 1 "King" piece each deck would be required to carry. This would generally be the most powerful piece in the deck (not always), and obviously, losing it would lose you the game.

At the start of each players turn, they would draw a card, play any non-piece cards (and up to 1 piece card) they wanted to from their hand, move a piece, play any more cards they wanted to (again sticking to 1 new piece per turn), and then end.

Don't ask. I don't know where the hell this idea came from either.

"Wilrenbrain Theatre" is basically me expressing my view on certain topics, not through trying to explain my point of view, but by presenting what I believe to be a plausible scenario in which the topic plays a major factor. To premiere this idea of mine, I present to you a possible day in the life of Wilren, in a world where the Internet is no longer free-reign...

In what many consumers are calling a dark day for the Internet, Congress overwhelming shot down a bill that would have enforced a concept commonly known as Net Neutrality, which would have--"
