This past Tuesday, the 22nd, was my last day on active duty. As of right now I am on the Inactive Reserves list for another 2 years.
Currently I'm working on (with some greatly appreciated help from
anher &
stryck) getting things squared away for my departure back home. The Navy wouldn't fly me all the way home, but a ticket from Anchorage to Nome should be significantly cheaper than from Norfolk to Nome.
They also pretty much gave me the finger on shipping my belongings (a whole 3 boxes worth that I'm actually -taking-...the rest is either going in my luggage for the flight or, as much of it has already done, going in the garbage. Including, surprisingly enough, a vast percentage of my Yu-Gi-Oh collection.
I've basically got until Tuesday to have my barracks room cleared out, so I'm not too worried about it. Still gonna be a bitch having to say goodbye to friends, especially when I can't remember a time without them.
Still, I'll manage somehow. We've all got the Internet after all. :]
