Just a quick update:
BELONGINGS MAILED OFF: Mostly done. Sadly, since I left the box it was sitting in in the back of
anher's truck while I was visiting them, a rather horrendous rainstorm the other night destroyed my manga collection. :[ Oh well, I'll get over it.
Also, in what might surprise some people, I didn't send everything home...in fact, over half of my belongings, including about two-thirds of my Yu-Gi-Oh! collection (only kept my favorite decks, higher-value cards, and a tin or two of commons) were promptly deposited into the dumpster out back of the barracks. Despite all that, however, I'm still busting my back hauling these 5 bags around. X_x (Thank the gods for luggage racks!)
FLIGHT HOME: Mostly done. I've made it to Anchorage so far (if you're ever here and need a hotel by the airport, BTW, I highly recommend the Econo Lodge. Good rooms, fair rates, and Crave Bar & Grill serves some of the best food I've had since leaving D.C.!), got one last flight later this afternoon.
JET LAG ADJUSTMENT: Mostly done. Stayed up until 10:30 local time last night, which by my internal clock was 2:30 AM....so basically I took the approach I take to a typical Friday. ^_^
ALL ACCOUNTS SETTLED WITH THE MILITARY: About halfway done. Apparently I fudged up my checkout procedure from the now civilian-controlled barracks (didn't provided a 30-day notice of move, didn't allow for a final room inspeciton, etc. etc. )...as a result, the Navy stiffed me on the final month's deposit on the rent. Long story short: Pretty much all the money I saved on the plane ticket home is now going to the company that controls the barracks. D'oh! :[ (Oh well, at least I had the foresight to make sure I was capable of affording these muck-ups, so I'm more miffed than worried.)
Well, that's all for now I guess. See you folks when I get home in about 8 hours.
