Time draws near...
27 Jul 2012 20:12Housing arrangements down in Anchorage (it's rather weird living in a part of the country where that can be said correctly) are in the works; on the 6th I'll be there for a day to talk with the owner of an apartment complex near the UAA campus, with a planned move-in date on the 20th. Rent's about 850/month plus water and electric, which won't even be half of the VA's housing allotment altogether, and from what I've seen online they're quite nice. The complex's owner already verified that I'd have a place available at my planned move-in date (this trip is pretty much just "check it out, verify that I want it, and sign the paperwork") so the only real concern in regards to that is that I don't know what they have as far as furniture goes...worst case scenario, a couch and a TV will suffice for the short term, maybe a mattress on the side of that.
This'll also mean no roommates or neighbors for me to give much of a damn about, so if/when we start doing HolidayStar dubs, I'm game! :D
Got an email about my previous college credits from Kaplan being transferred; long story short on that is that, while most of them aren't directly applicable to my current major, it still works nicely in my favor.
Courses are mostly taken care of; just got a placement test to take care of next week, and then a few days later I can work on getting signed up for that Written Comm class. The on-campus slots are all taken, so I'd have to go to the campus at Eagle River to get it done...not as bad as I thought it'd be, though; apparently I'm a bit deaf or something, because I distinctly remembered hearing it was 50 miles away when, in fact, it's only 15. Heh, whoops. In any case, I'll have at least one class each day, so that works out great.
Funny, past few weeks I've been tearing my hair out trying to get all this organized...now my biggest concern is finding a new barber down there. XD
