xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Kanji)

Here we go again.

Every March and September, the tournament scene of the Yu-Gi-Oh! CCG undergoes a transformation due to changes to the Limited/Forbidden lists (for those who don't play: By the rules of the game, you can only run 3 copies of any given card in a deck. However, some affect gameplay so adversely that they are limited to 1 or 2 copies, or outright forbidden, in officiated tournaments.)

While these are perfectly fine with me, the headaches come during the weeks leading up to the announcement of the changes. People start speculating, some creating falsified "proof" (the most popular being Photoshopped scans of Japan's V-Jump magazine, which is usually where the official lists first get printed outside of Konami's website), and next thing you know, people are going absolutely apeshit over it. Arguments ensue, people sell off high-value cards that are supposedly going to be hit by the list, and all in all, the online communities get overrun with anger, panic, and complete stupidity.

The reason I bring all this up, of course, is because the migration of sensibility out of said communities is starting up once again, leaving some of my favorite spots to hang out online reduced to puddles of idiocy that make me want to Gibbs-slap these people with an electrified metal cactus tipped with contact explosives.

*facepalm* Days like this, I find myself wondering why I didn't just stick with Magic: the Gathering. :/

For Great Justice, is why. Also: now is the best time to keep an eye on those folks that you weren't sure about; any insanity will reveal itself when insanity is all about :D
