A little under a year ago, I applied for a position with the TSA.

By the end of next month, once I get all the training, orientation, paperwork, and other essentials done, I will finally have that position. :]

The fact that all this training includes a paid 2-week stay in Fairbanks is simply a bonus. :]

A year? That's more than a bit ridiculous in terms of time to process someone into a job.

Reorganization of the upper management caused some rather ridiculous SNAFUs in their system. Apparently a lot of people ran into headaches like this.
