xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Darius)

I've mentioned the house we're working on a few times, but I've never shown what it looks like.

Walk in the front door, look up the stairs, and BAM. Beautiful, isn't it?

Here, we have the mother-in-law room, currently the only room in the house fully furnished and ready to go.

Welcome to the kitchen. It's still lacking a few things....like appliances....and cabinets....and everything....but it's pretty nice. The flooring throughout the whole first floor is bamboo, which, on top of being economically and ecologically sound, is pretty darn nice!

Once the living room is finished, this alcove is where the TV's going. To the left is the table that Mom's painting the window sills on.

Dining room's got a pretty nice view, huh? Well, it will once our old house is moved out of the way. The light that the table will go under is rather nice, but I'm glad we're done working in that area...that thing hurts like hell when it smacks your noggin! D:

Here's the master bedroom...I gotta question my folks' choice in furniture, to be honest.

Now we come to the master bathroom. Aside from the paint, this is where one of my main contributions is: the tile layout on the floor in here, as well as the other 2 bathrooms (one of which we haven't started yet and is currently functioning as a storage area.)

And now that we're up the stairs, have a look over the balcony down to the living room.

And here's what's going to be my favorite part of the house...my room! :D And yes, I picked that wall color out myself...got inspired by it one day when I noticed the drywall, in a mix of the sunlight and the tint of my glasses, had a similar color to it. Say what you want, I like it.

Right outside my window is a spot where, conceivably, I could hop out onto the roof and have a seat.

And here's why I'd want to...I don't think I'll ever get tired of that view.

The upstairs bath, the first one I did the tile layout for. Once again, I have to sum it up as "awesome for a floor, crappy for a game of Tetris."

Headin' back downstairs and towards the back door. Don't mind the ladder.

Oop! Watch that first step! Sorry, forgot to mention that the stairs haven't been put together yet...sorry 'bout that!

Anyway, I just came outside for a sec in case anyone was wondering if we have a basement...as you can clearly see, we don't. The whole place is set up on a number of concrete pillars a good 4-5 feet off the ground depending on which side of the house you're on. The house is perfectly level, it's the ground that isn't.

Well, that's the place in a nutshell. About another 2-3 months and it'll be ready to move everything into.

Make sure you don`t drink some chemicals while intending on drinking that Coke.

Clearly you`re not in Alaska anymore. Where are you now? I also like that view. Most people in Vancouver are too used to mountains everywhere so they can`t appreciate a prairie landscape. They make fun of its flatness all of the time.

Nope, that's still Nome, Alaska! The house blocking the view out of the dining room is the one I've lived in the past 2 years.

Alaska seems more grassy than I envisioned. I assumed it was mostly tundra up there. I suppose I shouldn`t have such ignorant views of the North.

Heh, you'd probably be completely mindblown by Fairbanks, then. Especially if you never believed it possible for any part of Alaska to hit the 90-100°F temperature range, or have significant amounts of forest. :]

No, I`m not surprised they have forests. I know there`s forests within the arctic circle (thank you, Planet Earth), and depending on where these Alaskan cities are, they could be close to BC and share some of the numerous forests that cover my province.

I think I`ve seen the northern cities reach 20C (68 C), but never above that.
