xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Default)

Oops.

As I've mentioned, ever since the Toronto trip I've been following the delusional ramblings of one Harold Camping, who predicted that at 6PM on May 21st, a colossal earthquake would hit New Zealand and work its way around the world, hitting every point on the planet at 6PM their local time.

It is now 6:05 PM, May 21st, in New Zealand.

No earthquake.

Sorry Mr. Camping, but once again...

Thanks for playing, Harry! Don't forget your tickets.

I've been disillusioned with any and all apocalypse/rapture/end of the world predictions ever since 1997, October 1 wasn't the END DAY. :(

Yeah...CURSE YOU, CRYSTALIS. :[

Still a good game, though.

Oh, it's an all-time classic, no doubt about it.

Well if this isn't just a complete non-surprise...Camping's kinda-sorta changed his prediction rather than apologized.

He's sticking to the "Oct 21 = Doomsday" part of his most recent fuck-up...on the plus side, though, at least he's promised to shut up about it.

Of course, on the "complete and utter dickwad" side of the picture, he is refusing to return any donations made for his intercontinental tour-de-farce.

At this point I'm no longer sure if he's a crackpot or just a scam artist.

I will say, however, at risk of sounding like an outright bastard, that it would be a rather sick joke on God's part if Camping's last day on Earth turned out to be that day. In any case, however, I do still wish him and the people he's deceived, intentionally or otherwise, the best, and hope that maybe now they'll quit living for the end and get back to living for the now.
