So after the fair bit of success I had yesterday with the oatmeal-raisin cookies, I decided to try my hand at a classic today: good ol' chocolate chip cookies.

After the first batch finished cooling off, I plucked one off the tray, bit in to see how it tasted...and found it tasting kind of strange. I couldn't put my finger on it, to be honest. They tasted fine, but something just seemed wrong.

A few minutes later it finally occurred to me that the problem was my brain had seen cookies, remembered what yesterday was like, and, in a nutshell, was expecting the flavor of oatmeal-raisin cookies. So yeah, the problem was that chocolate doesn't taste like raisins. Go figure. XP

And I was all prepared to rejoice that it's not just me that has cooking disasters that don't happen to normal people! How anticlimactic for it just to be that your taste buds have some sort of long-term memory. Chocolate not tasting like raisins is just one of its many good qualities.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I tend to fair pretty poorly with our grill. I can throw the steaks on it, wait a minute, shut it off, and they'll still get cooked...simply because about 80% of the inside of the grill will have inevitably caught fire. O_o;
