Adventures in baking: Chicken and cake...oddly, no chicken cake.

...Ew. O_o

Anyway, yesterday I was in the mood to cook dinner, and wanted to try something new and somewhat gourmet. I ultimately decided on this oven-roasted chicken recipe...then, for no reason whatsoever, my brain just latched onto the idea of making it a truly restaurant-style experience by serving it at our oft-unused dinner table with napkin-wrapped silverware and everything, and I just went "Ahh what the hell?" and did it.

End result: ABSOLUTE SUCCESS. This stuff is freaking delicious. Definitely saving that recipe.

Today, I still had some baking inclination in me and nothing else to do, so I decided to tackle what I figured would be the most difficult task I'd faced yet...making a cake.

Turns out pouring water, oil, eggs, and a box of cake mix into a bowl, mixing it up for a few minutes, pouring it into a well-greased pan, and then tossing it in the oven for about an hour isn't as hard as I thought. :/

End result: CATASTROPHIC SUCCESS. This cake is too good. *urp*

Would try baking something again tomorrow, but work will get in the way of such plans. Oh well, maybe during the mid-day break..

From the title, I was hoping for some sort of disaster where you accidentally combined them - reading a recipe book and turning over two pages at once or something, I don't know :)

I suppose I'm just not used to the concept of livejournal entries in which cooking things actually goes as planned.

Sorry man, but I've got too much sense about the kitchen to make that kind of a blunder. XP
