xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Default)

Even MORE unexpected occurrences.

Well, the good news is that Dad's surgery went without a hitch, and once he's off the "Get Better Faster" Equipment they hooked him up to, he should be good as new.

The arm sling part of the GBFE was not a surprise. The IV-drip ball supplying localized anesthetic, however, was a bit unexpected....the real dose of WTFery here, however, is the device they hooked him up to in order to keep his shoulder cold and soothed.

It is literally an ice chest with a motorized pump and hose to circulate cold water up and around it. I am not kidding, we could honest-to-God be using the device to cool and relax his shoulder to keep a 12-pack of Coor's nice and fresh. (Fortunately, neither of us drinks, so that won't be happening).

Still, he's taking it all in stride rather nicely...looking forward to seeing how airport security deals with it when we go home. XD

I'm glad to hear your dad's okay... hope things go well for both of you, yeah?

Well, it's going rather nicely for him (getting to lounge around all day and take a few weeks off work to heal up), and it's going okay for me as well (got some shopping in, including a Fat Pack of the last 3 Magic: the Gathering sets from Wayne's World, probably my favorite store in this whole state), but the fact that I'm having to be the responsible care-giving one on this whole trip is definitely a new experience for me.
