I realized this after spending 35 minutes in Resident Evil 4 reorganizing and re-reorganizing things in my attache case over and over again simply because one tiny bit of the layout didn't quite look proper to me. I don't put that much effort into packing my ACTUAL luggage.
"I can make the shotgun and rifle fit here no problem, but then I can't have the scopes next to the rifle....I could put things like this, but then the grenades and ammo don't line up properly...that just like I tossed everything in willy-nilly and has unusable gaps everywhere...that kinda works, but I can make it a little better..." A friend of mine on MTG Online referred to it as "Suitcase Tetris." Boy, is THAT ever the appropriate description. (At least my weapons don't disappear when lined up properly!)
While in the midst of a fresh playthrough on my Gamecube copy of the game (due to my PS2 copy being scratched up so bad it freezes during most cutscenes anymore...pity.), however, I had a stunning realization: These problems only exist for the largest attache case, the 8x15 model. With the 2nd-largest, the 8x12, I can line my preferred selection of weapons (Handgun, Mine Thrower, Riot Gun shotgun, Semi-Auto rifle, Broken Butterfly magnum revolver, and a pair each of Flash and Incendiary Grenades), as well as a healthy supply of ammo and healing items (although, given how I cheat like a right bastard at this game, that's purely for show) up in a perfectly organized manner that suits me just fine. There is only 1 1x3 gap in there, and the rifle's infrared scope will fill that perfectly. Sure, this leaves no room for a rocket launcher, but...oh well!
Even when Matilda (my favorite handgun, one with 3-round rapid fire capability) finally becomes available, all I'll have to do to make room for it (due to being larger than other handguns; most are 3x2, Matilda is 5x2) is dump the Mine Thrower's scope (which, considering they'll be homing missiles by then, will then be a 2x2 waste of space).
Okay, that's enough of that. Back to killing zombies.
