After getting to the end of the videos on our last outing in the Hatoverse, I got curious enough about a particular subject to look into it.
Setsubun is a genuine holiday over in Japan, celebrated on February 3rd, the same day as Legumentine's, and apparently served as the basis for it.
Apparently the part about the beans being thrown specifically at birds is off (anti-human propaganda from the Hawk Party?), but throwing beans is a genuine part of it; apparently it's meant as a means of bringing good fortune for the year.
