xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Darius)

Most of my friends live on the eastern US coast, or are visiting there for FurFright...and, apparently, a stupefyingly powerful hurricane is planning on visiting the area as well.

Stay safe, everyone.

Connecticut to Vegas? Ick.

Well, hope you (and everybirdy else, of course!) have a safe trip home.

Coming at you live from in the airplane (WiFi access, which I can get now that it has reached 10,000 feet.) To be perfectly honest, a projected 4hr 30m flight from CT to NV, only to then turn around and go back to NM with however long that's going to take, does not sound like it's going to be as awesome as the con was. However, as someone who is currently on a plane that has successfully taken off, is in the air, and is GTFOing the New England area as we speak, all I can think is, whew, made it. (Especially because this was one of about eight flights across three entire boards' worth of listed ones that wasn't cancelled.)

Updates to come as this journey continues, but as of this writing, the overall takeaway appears to be "fuzz escaped just in time."

So far, so good. Coming at you from the WiFi in the Vegas airport. There were no problems with the CT-NV flight, unless you count the fact that it was actually so early (due to a strong tailwind gee I wonder where that could have come from) that it reached the airport before the previous plane at that gate left, so we had to land and sit in the parked plane for a bit, so we could finally deplane when we were only really early, as opposed to stupidly early.

NV-NM flight is still on time and such as of this writing, and honestly, I see no reason why anything would happen to that one barring the usual day-to-day airport shenanigans. (It's obviously not in the hurricane path anymore, at least.) If I can kill two hours and then get on the flight when it finally leaves (that is, if there are no overbooking or full overhead compartment issues or the like) then I should be home free.

Well, if anything does happen, lemme know; I can't do anything about it, but I can at least recommend some good shows to catch down on the Strip while you're waiting. :b

Final update is a bit delayed because the final leg of the flight surprised me by not having WiFi, after I had actually become used to all the others having it. Oops.

I'm home! I am writing this from inside my apartment, on my desktop. Journey over, time for, like, showering and unpacking and stuff.

Best wishes to everyone who is not currently two or more entire regions away from the hurricane. You guys worried about me when I made my escape, and now that I'm free, it's my turn worry about those left behind.

Fun fact: I actually just tied a harness to Okosan and he ran me home.

I find that hard to believe on account of the fact that it took you 11 hours to get home rather than 11 seconds. :b
