xaq_the_aereon: I caught it...now what? (Ryouta)

So apparently, last night my subconscious decided to tackle the issue of Labor-9's whole design concept: taking the brain out of a human and putting it into a robotic body so as to have what effectively amounts to a slave species for birds to be able to do all the things that humans can and birds can't.

The whole concept is disturbing and, more to the point, unnecessary. If birds can construct a humanoid robot like that, there's no feasible reason they can't build something they themselves can control, like a powered exoskeleton akin to the bulldozer-mecha from Aliens. This is certainly a concept Japan would be familiar with, given how often it shows up in anime....

As that last thought crossed my mind, I immediately started imagining one particular anime that fit the bill perfectly, thought about the title, and realized a perfect pun...at which point my whole train of thought was derailed to "Dammit, as soon as I wake up I'm gonna have to start drawing something for Hatolabor (Patlabor parody)."

Haven't gotten to doing that yet, though, but at least now I'll remember the idea for later...in any case, though, as funny a crossover as that might be, it's also a perfectly good solution. If a human can handle piloting a 8-meter tall exoskeleton with no problems, why shouldn't an intelligent and, apparently, fully dextrous pigeon be able to do the same with one only 1.6 meters tall?

Anyway, just getting this written down to make a point and remind myself of sketch potential for later.
