Good grief. O_o;

Before I make this post, I just need to point something out: I'm not a fan of playing poker, but I love watching it.

Which brings me to this: The World Series of Poker's Main Event, which started back in July (and took a few weeks off before starting again yesterday) is down to its final 3 players in what was supposed to be the final day of play.

"Supposed to" being the key phrase.

They started at 6 PM Pacific time yesterday...it is currently 1:10 AM Wednesday morning their time.

Not one of them has been knocked out yet.

If this isn't done in the next 2 hours (which, for those of you in the Eastern Time Zone, might be about the time you're waking up), I'm gonna have to bail and get some sleep.

Of course, at this rate they'll still be going strong when I wake up. O__o;

How long are poker games meant to last...? I mean, this sounds quite a stretch - but there was that tennis match which went on for about 48 hours last Wimbledon, and by comparison, it's a surprise when a game of cricket lasts anything less than five days :)

The last few years, the final night of the Main Event has usually been done within 3-5 hours at the most; I'd never heard of them still being at it longer than that.

This one lasted just shy of twelve, finishing up at about 5 AM my time (6 AM their time, 9 AM Eastern). Jake Balsiger, the 3rd-place finisher, stuck around longer in 3-handed play than the 5 guys of the "November Nine" (colloquial term for the 9 players who make the final table; normally the finals are held in November, but due to the election they bumped it up a bit.) all did combined, staying in for over 200 hands.
