The project I've been working on is a Shrine Visit mini-episode featuring Hitori Uzune. I'd always felt rather sad for, and sympathetic towards, him, so I started this, setting it in an AU where Operation Hatoful was cancelled some time after Nageki was brought to the St. Pigeonation's Medical Center.

I basically wanted to give one of my favorite characters something closer to a happy ending...

And then the revelation at the end of Chapter 4 hit that completely altered my perception of Hitori. I thought that "Kazuaki Nanaki" was just a pseudonym he created for himself to hide his identity and separate himself from his past...but now we know the truth: Kazuaki was a suicidally depressed bird that Hitori tricked into dying so that he could steal his identity and create a false self, turning him into nothing more than a pawn in his plan

He figuratively and literally stole Kazuaki's life.

Now I find myself rather hating Hitori...hence why the project's in limbo: I don't know if I want to give him that happier ending anymore.

Yeah, I know...that's about the only mentality I can hold onto that keeps me wanting to do this, but still, that revelation sapped a lot of my motivation.

Kinda hard to do a sympathetic homage to a character when your opinion shifts from "you poor thing" to "you son of a bitch."
