Oh yeah. That's why.
So a recent post in
davidn's journal got me into picking up Crystal Towers 2 again. After getting my bearings in again with a new file, I switched back to my main (still sitting at about 90.6% completion)...and ran into a couple of problems.
Biggest problem is that I couldn't remember how I had the controls set up. I only got to the control settings menu through furious keyboard mashing, and when I saw what the controls were set for, I facepalmed...I was using the same general setup I use for emulators. T for Select (Use here), G for Start (menu), and FRED for AXYB (not actually used, magic2, magic1, and jump).
So, once I got that sorted out, I eventually ran into my 2 other big problems:
1) I'm still missing 8 Orbs, but since I seem to have completed all the main stages at least once, I can't figure out where they could be. (/subtlecryforhelpdavid)
2) The "constantly losing gems" and race (whether for checkpoints or against a ghost) Rainbow Gems, regardless of what stage they're in, are still the bane of my CT2 existence. I fully completed Flying Fortress C, yet have gotten nowhere with Luminous Tower A. :[
...Oh well, game's still fun.

Luminous Tower A is paradoxically a lot easier if you take your time - find the route that feeds you the most of them and just walk along it, avoiding any enemies (it was a massive mistake to halve your gems when you get hit, it should have been losing about 10 of them or something.)

Let me say that again.
YOU CAN SHOOT THE YELLOW B*ST*RD.
The amount of revenge this lets me take on the Dust Hill A phantom in particular is well worth opening the level for. :P
