A Stumbling Through suggestion for David.

KAVALMAJA - A retro-looking, Zelda-style metroidvania game done in true NES-style "no tutorials of any sort, you're on your own for figuring stuff out" fashion (translation: NO OMACHAO). I first played it years ago, and while it gets a little irritating at some points, I love it.

I'd have suggested it years ago, but I could never quite remember the name.

If it doesn't contain an overzealous flying tutorial spewer or a red-eyed nightmare that pursues you through an evil other dimension of the game, then that is reason enough for me to try it at this point!

It does not contain either of those, although there is one type of enemy that has some red pixels and will pursue you if you're in a direct horizontal/vertical line with it.

Also, as I had the displeasure of finding out on my latest playthrough, there is a programming bug that may prevent you from finishing the game. The exit gets randomly placed, and, every once in a while, winds up in a place you can't reach. :[

EDIT: And as if to prove my point, it just did it to me again (spawned it right on the edge of a screen so that, before I can warp out, it scrolls away), so...yeah, this might be a somewhat disappointing game for you, actually, and if it is, I take full responsibility for the letdown. :[
