xaq_the_aereonBut the final battle in .Hack//Infection wasn't quite what I wanted....I suppose you can call it "overcompensation". ...Actually I think the correct terminology is "cheating".
I am NOT kidding. If you take the difficulty of the final battle with Sephiroth in FF7 (not the One Winged Angel one, I'm talking the FINAL final one), reverse the roles, and that's EXACTLY what this battle's like. This battle couldn't be any worse if I STARTED OFF dead.
My best move, which until now has literally killed everything in my path in one go, was doing, what, 30-35 damage a hit on this sunuvabitch (sure it gets a bazillion hits, but usually it's been doing in the 2-300 range), whereas his regular attacks shave off half of my HP in a single stab.
Oh, and did I mention he can get a 2nd one in before I have time to recover? Doing the math there should tell you how thoroughly fucked my chances of victory are. Mainly because they are NONEXISTANT. I'm not even sure an Infinite HP code would save me, especially considering that if I'm lucky enough to survive his normal moves, his ultimate technique knocks me down to about 2-3 HP AND slams me with EVERY FUCKING STATUS IN THE BOOK! There's statuses on there I didn't even know EXISTED until this point!
I mean, holy fucking SHIT, I'd rather be playing Star Ocean 2 and facing Indalecio without his limiter on and my entire party at level 1...my chances of winning then are PHENOMENALLY higher!
Having a final battle that makes me WANT to cheat to win is one thing.
FORCING me to do it, and making it useless, is another thing altofuckinggether. I simply WILL NOT put up with shit like that.
And the best part? I'm honor-bound NOT to boost myself up to level 99 against this guy simply because my stats on part ONE will carry over to part TWO and suddenly I'll wind up feeling cheated due to the game holding no fucking challenge at ALL. Fucked if I do, fucked if I don't...
...So yeah, I supposed you could say I'm pissed. Especially since I just left my PS2 in a rather...awkward condition because of that whole scenario...

It's no secret I have a short fuse, but for some strange reason I don't really give much of a shit...to be honest, I'm not even sure if I want to bother replacing this piece of garbage right now, but I'm going to anyway...I still have the receipt for it, and the warranty from the Exchange is still good (and covers all damages, no matter what.) If nothing else, I still need a DVD player.
......It's disturbing how much better I feel right now...with that sorry piece of worthless shit out of my face..
