xaq_the_aereonWell, now that I finally got my LJ poster thing working again, it's time to let you all know (if you didn't by now) that I AM BACK.
Surprisingly enough, I don't really have much to say about Otakon, mainly because I wasn't really even there for the convention. My main reason for being there was to meet the gang from RPGWW...whom, I must admit, are insanely cool people in real life. There was definitely much fun to be had that weekend. ^_^
I didn't come home from the con empty handed, of course...so, I shall now take a minute to list my Otakon Stash.
-New PS2, with DMS-3 Mod Chip.
-New Gamecube.
-Entire series of Revolutionary Girl Utena and Mouse.
-2 hentai videos (Samurai XXX and some cheap knockoff bit showing a few dozen various anime characters goin' at it. At least the pairings were believable....outside of the requisite Dragonball/SailorMoon crossings anyway.)
-a Love Hina wallscroll.
-A pair of bronzed statuettes of Jill Valentine and Hunter-B from Resident Evil.
-One of my two main purchase goals at the con.........A plushie of Kilala from Inuyasha! *hugs it*
Unfortunately, I didn't find my main objective at the con, which was to stock up on some Yu-Gi-Oh Dark Crisis boosters.
But that was taken care of last night while I was out mall-hopping looking for a copy of Disgaea (which I finally found. ^^). I passed by a booth at one of the stores that was having sign-ups for a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament. The top prize was a box of 1st Edition Dark Crisis boosters. Didn't surprise me any...that was part of the reason I was at that particular mall, after all. Why else would I have brought my tried-and-true "Last Rites" deck with me?
In all they allowed 16 people to sign up, making for 4 rounds of play.
1st Match: My opponent was using a Dark Paladin-based deck. That didn't worry me too much as the only dragon I have in that deck is the Blue Eyes White Dragon. I got Magician of Black Chaos out fairly early and managed to keep him from getting anything decent on the field for a while, and once my Penguin Knight came out I had him in lockdown. Flip it, send his lone defender and it back to our hands, set it, attack with the Magician, repeat until victory. ^^
Quarters: I don't even know WHAT kind of deck he was using, because the only card he got to play was a Hinotama to deal a few hundred points of damage to me.
My first move? Sacced my BEWD to my Black Luster Ritual, using that to play Black Luster Soldier, then using Monster Reborn to get BEWD back on the field, and just before I attacked, I made him regret the fireballing by equipping BEWD with Megamorph. 9000 damage strike. OWNED.
Semis: The gal I was playing against tried using an Exodia deck. That's the kind where you want the cards you're looking for in your HAND rather than on the FIELD...which is where the Left Arm of the Forbidden One wound up after I flipped my Cyber Jar in the 4th round. Using the Cyber Jar also got me a Cyber Harpie and Sonic Bird on the field and my Magician of Black Chaos in my hand. Next turn I flipped her the Bird (heh heh heh....gods what a horrid pun.), using its ability to get the Magician's Ritual, sacced the Bird and Harpie to get it on the field, and then just kinda went to town from there. ^_^
Finals: My opponent just wasn't having any luck with his Guardian deck. While he did manage to get Guardian Grarl out on the field the same turn I got Magician of Black Chaos out, he kinda neglected my Magical Cylinder...some Guardian, attacking its own master like that. After that I pulled Monster Reborn, bringing back the BEWD (which I'd used to get out the Magician) again, slapped Fairy Meteor Crush on the Dragon and Megamorph on his Guardian (which, since I was ahead in life points, cut its power in half), and then just kinda ran him over.
THE BOOSTER BOX SET IS MINE! WOOHOO!!!
...Well, that's all I can say for now, I gotta get to work. I might post more later today. Ciao!
