With the Drifloon having effed off and the Honey Trees in this area proving useless for finding our intended target, I move onwards down Route 205...or up, I guess? Anyway, a camper kid wants to have a battle before heading into the next area, Eterna Forest.
[OKEY DOKEY!]
[VS. Camper Jacob]
[vs. Ponyta]
Bug/Poison vs. Fire sounds bad, so I tag Tessa in to mitigate Ember's effectiveness. It Embers again, but Water Gun nearly scores a KO. Its final Growl does little to make Metal Claw hurt less. Sorry kiddo.
Up ahead we sneak past a Hiker to get an X Attack, then sneak past him again without fighting....
[OH WHO ARE YOU FOOLING?]
[VS. Hiker Daniel]
[Round 1: vs. Geodude]
Bug/Poison vs. Rock sounds bad, so I tag Buster in to mitigate Rock Polish's...eh, never mind. XP With its speed boosted, I opt for Revenge...which doesn't get the boost due to it Rock Polishing again, but it hits hard enough for the one-shot regardless.
[Round 2: vs. Machop]
You're up, Astra!
[ONE WING ATTACK LATER]
You're out, Machop!
[Round 3: vs. another Geodude]
Tessa takes this one on, and Metal Claw hits pretty heavily. Its Rollout does a bit of damage, but Water Gun wraps this battle up.
[Round 4: vs. Bidoof]
I'll let Belfries have some fun this time. She Supersonics it into confusion, which it responds to with Defense Curl. Poison Fang crits and poisons it, and it snaps out of its stupor long enough to Rollout before falling to an Absorb.
[ROUND 5: VS...OH WAIT, HE'S OUT]
Whew! About time. Okay, so here we have 2 options: Low path under a bridge, or...the bridge. A quick perusal shows the low path dead-ends pretty quick, but there's some Berry bushes and other stuff down there, so down we go. We avoid the 2 trainers down here on our way to the waterfront, but not so much on the way back.
[VS. Picnicker Siena]
[Round 1: vs. Shinx]
Duster's Confusion does more than Shinx's Tackle, and after a few rounds of that back-and-forth she scores the win.
[GUESS BUG/POISON VS. ELECTRIC DIDN'T SOUND SO BAD?]
Nope. Speaking of...
[Round 2: vs. Pachirisu]
Its Quick Attack hits first, while Confusion hits about as hard. It uses Charm to drop Duster's Attack while I use Harden to boost her Defense. Its Quick Attack still stings a bit, but another Harden should help with that. Its next Quick Attack does 2 damage, and Confusion does a decent bit. Growl drops Duster's Attack further, but that matters little since Confusion is a Sp.Attack move. Another Growl/Confusion tradeoff gets Pachi in the yellow, while a Charm/Confusion tradeoff puts it in the red.
[THINK SHE'S FIGURED OUT THAT DROPPING YOUR ATTACK ISN'T WORKING?]
Not yet. Quick Attack plinks off again, while another Confusion drops it to about 1 HP. A final Quick Attack puts Duster at 18 HP, and an ineffective Gust drops Pachirisu to 0.
[THAT WAS MORE EPIC THAN IT DESERVED TO BE]
Maybe, but it was fun!
[TESSA: WATER GUN -> BUBBLE BEAM]
After that, I swap Duster and Buster and move on to the other trainer I skipped.
[VS. Aroma Lady Elizabeth]
[vs. Budew]
I have Buster use Focus Energy, while Budew uses Growth to boost its Atk and Sp.Atk. Worry Seed hits next, giving Buster Insomnia, while Knock Off puts Budew deep in the red. Stun Spore causes paralysis, while another Knock Off causes a knockout.
A quick stop back in Floaroma's Pokecen before we get to that bridge is in order. Ahead of it is a camper kid running laps. Let's help him before he gets dizzy and falls off...and by "help" I mean "defeat."
[VS. Camper Zackary]
[vs. Geodude]
Oh perfect. Buster crits a Low Sweeps for the one-shot. Nice brief bout before dealing with this hiker up ahead. Seems he's gotten lost...which is kinda weird since there's not many directions to go from here.
[VS. Misguided Hiker Nicholas]
[vs. Onix]
Oh perfect. Buster Low Sweeps most of hits HP and Speed away, then dodges a Rock Throw before Low Sweeping again for a win.
[POKEMON CENTER'S ACROSS THE BRIDGE, STRAIGHT DOWN, ACROSS THE NEXT BRIDGE, AND TO YOUR RIGHT]
Moving Duster back to the front, we press on and come across another lap-runner.
[VS. Battle Girl Kelsey]
COnfusion takes about 1/3 of its HP, and Low Sweep takes about...3? Huh, guess my concern earlier was unwarranted. Gust proves pretty painful, unlike another Low Sweep, and another Gust blows it away.
I sidestep a picnicker to check out a nearby house. The lady inside lets our team rest, making this a makeshift Pokecen.
[MUCH APPRECIATED! NOW ABOUT THAT PICNICKER WE PASSED BY]
On it like a bonnet.
[VS. Picnicker Karina]
[vs. Piplup]
Awww! <3 With my short nostalgia trip complete, I tag Duster out for Nala and put up with a Growl. Thunder Shock proves powerful, while Water Gun...doesn't. Another Thunder Shock puts this trip from Tessa's past to rest.
[DUSTER: STRING SHOT -> POISON POWDER]
That brings us to the entrance to Eterna Forest, apparently a home for many Poison-type 'mons. I have 5 Antidotes and 4 Pecha Berries, so I think I'll be okay...worst case scenario, Duster can take the lead; being Poison-type itself will mitigate that issue.
[WHY DO I GET THE FEELING THIS IS GOING TO BE AN END POINT?]
Probably because I'm pulling up the team's stats for the closing of the entry? Well, we'll check out the entrance area just in case there's a Honey Tree...OH. Hi Cheryl!
[CHERYL? WHO'S THAT?]
You'll just have to come by next time to find out.
[OH FOR THE LOVE OF--]
