The plot calls for me to head west from Jubilife to go to Canalave City. I have instead opted to head south from Sandgem onto Route 221, which shows itself to have absolutely nothing of interest. I want to test that theory.

After going through a crapload of tall grass, I come out to find 2 construction workers guarding an entrance of some sort. I also find an Ace Trainer. Let's rumba.

Shut it. Metal Claw does some damage and boosts Tessa's Attack, while Endeavor wallops her pretty badly, indicating it has little HP compared to her. Surf removes what it had left.

Dogmeat tags in for a Beat Up. 3 hits do the trick. Man that move is ridiculous.

The sign at the entrance says "Ramanas Park - A place for new beginnings" ...Okay? In any case, it's not open to the public yet, so I take off down a less-grassy path. Some doof hiding by a tree makes that a bit of a mistake.

It kicks up a Sandstorm with its ability to start, but Surf leaves mud in its eye. Tessa doesn't get hurt by the Sandstorm due to now being Steel-type.

Well that was underwhelming. Also, why am I about to go Swimming back to Sandgem when I have Fly available?

A trip back to Pastoria to collect some Berries reveals something I wish I'd known earlier: someone in the Great Marsh has the TM for Defog. I cough up the 500 P, head in, and get ready to hunt down the mystery NPC with the TMs.

[AND RUN SMACK DAB INTO HER AT THE ENTRANCE]
Yep. With that, we get the TM97s for Defog, and unlocks it in the Poketch.

As long as I'm here, I try to catch some stuff and nab a Marrill. Yay?

Yeah, enough of this. I got what I came for. With that, I Fly back to Celestic Town and head back to Route 210. Now, let's see what this place has to offer without any fog around!

Tessa's Steel typing should nullify its Poison options...then again, Surf just nullified its HP, so no worries there.

I tag in Dogmeat and let her Thunder Fang it out of commission. Back up at the top of the bridge I spy a bike route I missed earlier. Clearing it rewards me with another Ninja Boy battle.

I contemplate being nice for a moment, then just Surf it away.

The trip is well worth it, however, as it nets me a TM30 for my favorite Ghost move, and I've got just the hellhound to learn it!

...Seriously, I only ever used Taunt by accident. This is the perfect swap-out.

On my way back to earlier parts of the route, I come across an Ace Trainer I somehow missed. Didn't miss them this time.

As much as I want to test Shadow Ball, I tag in Atlas for the type advantage. Leer drops Atlas' Defense a bit, while Drill Run has her go Gurren Lagann on the Luxio.

Now I tag in Dogmeat, and let her obliterate it with Shadow Ball. Good girl!

And with that, my curiosity of the area is sated. I swing by the cafe for some more Moomoo Milk before Flying off to make one more stop before getting back on track: Veilstone's Style Store.

[AND WHEN NOTHING CATCHES HIS EYE, HE FINALLY FLIES BACK TO JUBILIFE TO GET BACK ON TRACK]

Which makes this a perfect point to stop.
