(NOTE: A #### / #### by a Monster's name indicates its ATK power and DEF power)
Well, this just goes to prove once again that my Archfiend (AF) deck isn't invincible. I was testing it out against this new Hydro deck I built the past few days, and had a rather hellacious inital draw for it.
After a coin flip, I started with the Hydro deck. Hand after the Draw phase was:
-Sea Serpent Warrior of Darkness (1800 / 1500)
-Umi (+200 / -200 to all Water types)
-Twin Swords of Flashing Light - Tryce (+500 ATK, equipped monster can attack twice per turn.)
-Pot of Greed (draw 2 cards)
-Swords of Revealing Light (opponent can't attack for 3 turns)
-Jowels of Dark Demise (200 / 100, takes control of an enemy monster for 1 turn when flipped up. Controlled monster can make Direct Attacks on an opponent that turn.)
I immediately played the Pot of Greed, and was rewarded with Salvage (reclaim 2 Water monsters with up to 1500 ATK and put them in your hand) and Megamorph (ATK/DEF alteration. If you have lower LP than all your opponents, the equipped monster's ATK/DEF are doubled. If you have higher LP than all of them, it's power is halved.)
The rest of the turn consisted of putting Umi and the SoRL out into play, then summoning the SSWoD and equipping him with the TSoFL-T, giving it a total of (1800 + 200 for Umi + 500 for TSoFL-T) 2500 / 1300. Since I can't attack on the first turn, however, I switched over to the AF deck.
Initial draw was kinda dismal:
Vilepawn AF (1200 / 200, negates effects on a roll of a 3, no other AFs can be attacked while he's on the field.)
2 Trape Holes (destroys a summoned monster of 1000 ATK or more....a little late, sadly.)
Magic Cylinder (reflects an attack back at an opponent.)
Monster Reborn (self explanatory)
Archfiend's Oath (once per turn, I can pay 500 LP, declare a card, and draw the top card of my deck. Right = Go to hand, Wrong = DISCARD.)
Slapped down the Vilepawn AF in defense, set a Trap Hole and Magic Cylinder, then played the Oath, paid the 500 LP, and declared my ultimate monster, the TerrorKing AF....and was right! Into my hand it went. Since I couldn't attack with anything that turn, I ended it. Back to the Hydro deck.
Drew a 2nd TSoFL-T, and went on the offensive. First attack was reflected back by the Magic Cylinder. Score now 5500 to 7500. 2nd attack struck the VilePawn, destroying it. Since it was in Defense mode, though, no damage. Set the Jowels of Dark Demise face down, equipped the SSWoD with Megamorph, bumping it up to 5000, and ended my turn. Back to the AF deck.
Drew JUST the card I needed...Fallen Down. For 800 LP/turn I can take control of one of my opponent's monsters. My target? What else...the SSWoD! Unfortunately, the Swords of Revealing Light were still preventing me from attacking for 2 more turns, so I had to end it. Back one last time to the Hydro deck.
Drew another Salvage. Big deal. I flipped the JoDD to Attack mode, activating the effect and taking back control of the SSWoD for one turn. AF deck received a double-attack thanks to the TSoFL-T. Total damage: 10,000
7500 - 10000 = GAME OVER.
.........This would be a lot more exciting if I'd actually had an OPPONENT there, wouldn't it?
