Friday was pretty awesome despite A) leaving the lights on on one of the ATVs, thus rendering the battery dead. (nothing a few hours on a charger didn't fix), and B) craptacular weather. Went out to the Cripple River gold mining camp for some recreation, heavenly spaghetti, and karaoke. Yes, you read that right. Every Friday the guys at Cripple River have a fun little variety show where people get on stage and either sing or do a skit.
It always starts off with the local judge "prosecuting" any local offenses...or rather, hanging people who did something stupid (how I dodged it for the ATV blunder is beyond me..probably because I was one-upped by the guy who was in the lady's outhouse AND doing wheelies on HIS ATV). No, they don't ACTUALLY get hung...their neck goes in an actual noose, they get their picture taken, everyone gets a laugh, and then they're released. The judge is a real sport about it, though...he proved he was not above the "law" when he submitted HIMSELF to the noose for locking his wife in the shower stall.
ANYWAY! I was #7 on the list, doing the same song I did last year (a lot of people do the same thing every year. The two hosts of the show, Marv and Perry, always start with "North to Alaska", and Mr. Fred always does Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World" quite beautifully), Collin Raye's "That's My Story". It was requested because I, lacking backup singers, get the audience involved. They seem to enjoy it. I know I had a blast, that's for sure.
After that, though, Mom and I had to bug out because the weather was about to shit-can (and hasn't STOPPED being crap since). So we came back home (we went along the beach on a single ATV. I drove dad's Silverado the rest of the way...just in case anyone was curious how I got out there with a dead battery.), and I got back at my Secret of Mana file. Right up to the Mana Beast at the moment. Need to go back and level Dryad and Lumina up a bit, though. I could stand to be casting fewer spells with only 4 Fairie Walnuts at my disposal. ;.; Would be nice if those damned Fiend Heads would drop one last Sword Orb so I could get the Mana Sword. (Not that the Dragon Buster's not a cool sword...LOVED the artwork for it in the Nintendo Power coverage from a few years back).
Speaking of fantasy weapons, I have gotten WAY too creative with Asura and Wilren lately, ESPECIALLY Wilren. Their armaments have gotten to the point where they're both pretty much living weapons. Asura has a fair bit of firepower, while Wilren is a melee maniac.
ASURA'S ARSENAL:
-2 "Pebbler" 30-gauge gauntlet-loaded fully automatic repeater mini-railguns
-2 "Asura" .751-calibre 3-round tri-magnum revolvers (Asura's preferred weapons)
-1 "Bangbuster" 1.8-calibre 52-gauge triple-barrel shotgun
-Shin Senretsuken (Claymore forged of the darkness in Asura's heart.)
-Zealian mysticism (basic RPG "black magic")
WILREN'S ARSENAL:
-Nyuurakutouken (Unedged adamantine-orihalcite short sword. Wilren's preferred weapon.)
-Bladewyng system (Series of 8 blades, ranging from bayonets to nodachis in size, controlled psionically through the breastplate. Capable of integrating in a variety of weapon forms.)
-Kotetsu (Katana forged of a portion of the destructive half of Wilren's essence, enhanced in power by infusion with an alien agent.)
-Deathsong (Scythe-styled Keyblade forged of a portion of the destructive half of Wilren's essence.)
-Aquios (Demon bound to Wilren after being defeated and having its body destroyed. Could manifest at Wilren's command as a pair of bladed ice gauntlets before being infused with an alien agent. Gauntlets now form in the material the agent was composed of.)
-Aeros (Demon bound to Wilren after being defeated and having its body destroyed. Manifests as a long, slender pair of wings from Wilren's back or breastplate. Contact with alien agent resulted in acquisition of ability to fire feather-like projectiles from the wingtips.)
-Zealian mysticism (basic RPG "black magic")
This will all, of course, be implemented into
dreams_of_zeal at some point in the story. Where Asura will finally come into the fold? You'll see.
Anyway, I'm out for a game of Scrabble. Later!
